Opening Night Reception
The 29th annual Cambridge Film Festival kicked off with an exclusive drinks reception held at Emmanuel College before the first big event.
Identity of the Soul
Another film that was screened on the opening night was Identity of the Soul, which was a five screen cinematic masterpiece, combining poetry, music, symbolic imagery and an original soundtrack that complements the stirring narrative, read in English by the esteemed actress Vanessa Redgrave. This was the UK premier shown at Emmanuel College.
We were delighted to welcome director Thomas Hoegh for an exclusive Q&A session after the screening.
The Army of Crime
The 29th Cambridge Film Festival kicked off with The Army of Crime, a film about 23 daring French heroes who attempted to take a stand against the Nazi occupation of Paris in 1941.

White Lightnin’
We also had White Lightnin’, a film about a boy called Jesco White learned to tap dance after his father was murdered, and had to face the powers of revenge and redemption. White Lightnin’ is a phantasmagoric tumble into the dark corners of artistic genius, addiction, and insanity, followed by a Q&A with director Dominic Murphy after the screening.
